Join us at Living Realms for one of the biggest Magic: The Gathering events of the summer as we celebrate the release of The Hobbit!
As one of the biggest Magic releases of the year, we're looking forward to welcoming players old and new for an unforgettable Prerelease weekend. Whether you're a seasoned Planeswalker or attending your very first Magic event, Prereleases are the perfect way to experience a brand-new set before its official release.
Open your packs, build your deck, and journey through Middle-earth alongside the Living Realms community.
Event Structure
Sealed Deck Format
Each player will receive a Prerelease Kit containing everything needed to take part.
You'll build a minimum 40-card deck using:
- 6 Play Boosters
- Your Prerelease promo card
- Basic lands provided by Living Realms
The event will consist of:
- 3–4 Swiss Rounds (depending on attendance)
- Best-of-Three Matches
- 50 Minute Rounds
Participation Rewards
Every player who completes the event will receive:
- 2 × Play Boosters
Additional prizes may be awarded based on final standings.
New to Prerelease?
Prereleases are designed to be one of the most welcoming Magic events of the year.
If you've never played in a Sealed event before, don't worry—our team will be on hand throughout the evening to help with deck building, answer rules questions, and make sure everyone has a great experience.
Some helpful tips for newer players:
- Stick to two colours where possible.
- Aim for around 15–18 creatures.
- Most Sealed decks play around 17 lands.
- Don't worry about building the "perfect" deck—the fun is discovering the new set together.

- Basic lands are provided free of charge during the event.
- Swiss rounds and timings may be adjusted depending on attendance.
